19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts
A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.
Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This marks his initial championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from spring of 2023.
Success also signifies he has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.
"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
The player's defensive approach and regular emotional displays on court had led commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.
He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first professional title, took control to push for a third set.
The opponent saved 4 initial chances in a tight final set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, the winner secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
